Happy 10th Anniversary

Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self. -Cyril Connolly

It’s already November. What year is it, 2011? Holy cow, I’ve been blogging for 10 years. Not that I write much (see my pathetic first post). After 10 years, I still hate writing (most likely because I stink at it). One of my graduate school professors said that I was stingy with my words.

Anyways, I started a website after seeing CC’s friend’s (now husband) site. He started a few months before that, so his site is a tad bit older than mine. Either way, I can’t believe I’ve been at it for 10 years. I don’t even know why I keep posting. I remember thinking that the world wide web was pretty vast and it’d be neat to have my own little space. I didn’t know a single thing about websites or coding. I’ve never taken a computer class in my life. I think I just picked up HTML by viewing other people’s sources. :) Fast forward 10 years, my friend Joey, who was a computer engineering major and is now working for some hi-tech company, asked me about some code I use on this current site. He wanted to use it on some sites he was making for work. Haha. No, I can’t say that I know how to code. I just, um, implement.

I still find this stuff fascinating. I don’t know why I blog. Why do other people blog? Does anyone read blogs any more? I have a lot of friends who spend a lot of time on facebook, which is too social for me. I like thinking about things in my littler corner. I also have a lot of friends who aren’t online at all (we’re old enough to have missed the technology train).

Actually, I don’t really consider myself a blogger. I don’t write and I don’t really come up with original content (other than my pictures). Perhaps I’m more of a curator. I just maintain this random collection of stuffs (from the web and from my life).

Here’s the summary, my style: what I see x what I like = what I post.

So no pictures today, just some thoughts. Feedback and responses are always appreciated. And maybe I should update my 100 list.

I’m only one month late. Congratulations to 10 years of putting words on a screen for the world to read.
