I Hate Rejection Letters/Emails

This is the 2nd time I’ve received one of these. The last one was in the mid 2000’s. I really wish I could do more.

Dear Jennifer,

You were recently contacted because you appeared as a possible marrow match for a patient considering a transplant. Because of your response, you were included on the patient’s potential donor list as someone willing to move on for further testing. This information speeds up the donor search process and helps the patient get the life-saving transplant they need more quickly. Thank you for standing ready for any patient in need!

We are writing to let you know it is unlikely that you will be selected to proceed on behalf of this patient. This could be the case for many reasons: a better match was found, the patient decided to pursue a different treatment plan or the patient is not ready for transplant. The possibility remains, however, that you could be selected on behalf of another searching patient in the future.

Thank you so much for your commitment to help save lives. Your compassion and selflessness give hope to patients and make our life-saving work possible.

Sincerely,

Jeffie Davis, Supervisor, Member Services
National Marrow Donor Program

Everyone needs to get their butts on the registry.

Talk to me, Goose.
