Google Goes Black to Go Green
Mar 29th

Is black the new green? Google turned its home page black in support of Earth Hour. TechCrunch brings up a good point: Google, ironically, is causing more people to visit their site, using even more power to celebrate Earth Hour than they would on a normal day. It looks so funny that it almost made Christiana reboot her computer.

30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World
Sep 25th
With all the things going on in the world, the least we can do as Christians is to pray. There’s a 30 day prayer focus for the Muslim world. You can pray for Muslims through the 30 days of Ramadan or you can sign up for the free email version. It’s day 2 already, but it’s never too late to pray, right?
Blue Like Jazz: just motions
Mar 21st
I had finished reading Blue Like Jazz a while ago. I pretty much underlined the whole book. Well, ok, not exactly, but there were a lot of things that I thought were interesting. When I was reading it at WCC last month, a lady was curious about what the book was about. When I explained to her it was about this guy who does not put on this super-spiritual pretense that is so common today, but finds Jesus’ relevance for everyday life, she asked if I was reading it because I wanted to understand other people better or if I identified with the main character. I answered with the latter.
I believe the greatest trick of the devil is not to get us into some sort of evil but rather have us wasting time. This is why the devil tries so hard to get Christians to be religious. If he can sink a man’s mind into habit, he will prevent his heart from engaging God. ~Blue Like Jazz, p. 13
It’s so sad when Christians do things just for the sake of doing things. How easy it is to forget why it is that we do the things we do. There was so much in the book that every other page is dog-eared. It was eerie how similar my thoughts are to the author’s. However, there was a lot of stuff that was just out there. Easy and fun read anyhoo. 2 thumbs up.
