Advent is about anticipation, but it’s not a celebration. To the contrary, Advent is a season declaring things are not right. Advent is a season declaring we are not okay. Advent is a cry for help. So, if you’re coming into this season hopeless and threadbare, if you’re not feeling the cheer, you’re not ‘doing Advent wrong.’ You’re greeting the season exactly as it was meant for. And God is here to meet you in whatever moment you’re in.
