My New Desktop Wallpaper

So here’s my wallpaper for the week: Taken, not by NASA, but by Russia’s weather satellite, the Electro-L. Apparently, this is not a composite made from many different photographs—this is a portrait of Earth taken in one single shot. Download full-size image. Warning, it’s huge! Photography Equipment in Beijing

I’ve been meaning to document this here so I can find it easily in the future. Where do you go to buy photography equipment when you’re in China? Look no further than the Beijing photography city. If I remember correctly, it’s about 2 stories filled with a hundred different stores/booths. I didn’t buy any big-ticket…

Holi beauty, Batman! Taken at the Hindi festival of Holi, the film was shot on a Phantom Flex- a camera that can capture up to 2570 frames a second creating super slow motion. This slow motion gives it an almost-photographic feel and really helps me pay attention to the composition and the fantastic lighting.

San Francisco’s Pier 39, with the Bay Bridge in the background. August, 2011. I was reminded of this song (CD here): I wouldn’t say I’m a super emotional personal person. I’m not good with using words to describe how I feel or what I’m thinking–pictures and music often do a better job.

First time we were finally formally introduced, he put on a show for me. In honor of “The Hunger Games Friday,” I should call this “Larry on fire.” Nice guy–and quite humble too. You’ll usually find him at 4th and Market, in front of Old Navy.

If that’s the case, for each second of exposure, your camera will take another second to apply noise reduction and you…
