Bits of a Big Birthday

Update (11:11pm):
Forgot to add this earlier. Sometime I wonder about the same things as Sheldon, from the Big Bang Theory.

Sheldon Cooper: The entire institution of gift giving make no sense. Let’s say that I go out, and I spend 50 dollars on you, it’s a laborious activity, because I have to imagine what you need, where as you know what you need. Now I could simplify things, just give you the 50 dollars directly, and you could give me 50 dollars on my birthday, and so on, until one of us dies, leaving the other one old and 50 dollars richer. And I ask, is it worth it?

Thank you, Google, for all ways that you acknowledge birthdays- a birthday doodle or letting my friends with Android phones know it’s my birthday.

(In Chinese)
Mom: Happy Birthday!
Me: Why are we celebrating me on my birthday? It’s not like I did any work when I was born.
Mom: Yeah, that’s why it’s happy for you, not me.
Me: -_-

When people ask me around this time of year what my primary love language is, I tell them it’s gifts…over $100. My housemate Tiff says the same thing.

I typically get really sad around my birthday. Kinda like this:

I was ready for my bones to magically break on this milestone birthday, but surprisingly to me, my bones are still mostly in tact. Not sure why this year feels a bit different, but I am truly grateful for everyone (near and far) who’s let me be a part of their journey in this life thus far.
