I finally got around to

I finally got around to putting up some pictures that were taken at my friends’ wedding a couple weeks ago.

Lion

We were at the reception in a nice hotel. The MC, who was the DJ for that night and who was WAY too cheesy, had just announced the wedding party. He then announced the bride and groom, and that’s when the lion came out. They had the drums, cymbals, the whole shebang! The lion dance went on for quite a while. The bride and groom played monkey in the middle with the lion, teasing the lion with a head of lettuce. They finally fed the lettuce to the lion and the lion the grabbed a red banner and displayed it for everyone to see. Too bad I couldn’t read the Chinese characters on the banner. Anyways, of all the weddings I’ve been to, I’ve never seen a lion dance performed at a wedding before. They’re usually done at Lunar New Year celebrations or store grand openings. I guess it’s supposed to ward off evil spirits or bring good luck or something superstitious like that. It was delightfully entertaining though! Also, in the second picture, the bride and groom are wearing outfits styled after the other person’s ethnic background. The groom was Chinese, so the bride wore a traditional Chinese wedding dress. The bride was Filipino, so the groom wore a traditional Filipino outfit. I thought that was pretty neat.

Talk to me, Goose.
