  • Holi

Holi beauty, Batman! Taken at the Hindi festival of Holi, the film was shot on a Phantom Flex- a camera that can capture up to 2570 frames a second creating super slow motion. This slow motion gives it an almost-photographic feel and really helps me pay attention to the composition and the fantastic lighting.

Not sure why I was at F2.8 when I can’t focus correctly or quickly on the street. Ugh. Not the best picture, but I like his bow tie (and the bike). Officer Mark Pineda, California Highway Patrol on Market.

  • Being Elmo

I’ve been meaning to post about this since my friend forced me to watch it on Netflix a few weeks ago. Watch the trailer below, then go watch the full documentary.

  • I’ve been reading a book called Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks, a professor of neurology and psychiatry at Columbia University and saw that Gizmodo had just posted a video about the same stuff that I’ve been reading about. Here’s the video:

  • First time we were finally formally introduced, he put on a show for me. In honor of “The Hunger Games Friday,” I should call this “Larry on fire.” Nice guy–and quite humble too. You’ll usually find him at 4th and Market, in front of Old Navy.

  • Study Music

Been reading a lot. And because I can’t read to music that has lyrics, here’s what I’ve been listening to: Transformers – The Score The Power Of One: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Gladiator Any other suggestions?

  • Here’s a second shot from Mare Island. See the first one here. Photo tip that I was able to share that night: Your DSLR may have in-camera noise reduction automatically turned on by default. If that’s the case, for each second of exposure, your camera will take another second to apply noise reduction and you…

  • I think I was posing for a group picture, so this was “shot from the hip”. I remember they were a friendly bunch. At Panjiayuan (潘家园), Beijing, China. 2010.

  • Mare Island

Free night workshop that wasn’t much of a workshop. I guess you get what you pay for. I should have centered myself a bit better on this one. Not sure what the turnstiles are for, we just walked around it on the left. Anyhoo, I don’t usually shoot much night stuff but I thought those…

  • Updated (Feb 27, 2012): Yet another wired.com story using this photo. If the image above looks familiar, you probably saw it when I posted about my google chrome laptop. I’m posting about it again because Wired.com used it today for one of their stories. Thanks to ethegolfman for the heads up.
