It’s Wednesday, just Wednesday.

Today is when Gneen Gneen and I usually went out to lunch because I get to work from home on Wednesdays. Instead, I spent the day at the cemetery preparing for the funeral.

Some of the places we would patronize on our Wednesday outings…

Round Table-she LOVED Round Table, although sometimes she would complain that it was too salty.
Cafe Bakery on Noriega– she didn’t like it, but she would tell me to go there because she knew I like the fact that they have all-you-can-drink milk tea.
Some Chinese-Vietnamese place on 25th and Irving-she’d try to order roast duck even though she wasn’t allowed to eat it.
Krispy Kreme-so she can buy donuts for our entire village and I’d have to deliver the boxes to all the aunties and uncles.
Walgreen’s or those little Chinese-owned hardware stores in the Sunset-she liked to walk around (when she could walk more easily), even though neither of us had anything to buy.
Denny’s-because old people like Denny’s…and she liked the hash browns.

My friend came with us to lunch one time and reported back to his wife, “Beej’s grandma can smoke your grandma any day.” For lunch, we usually tried to eat more healthy foods, but if she’s lived this long, she must have been doing pretty well. I’d just get offended when people thought I was her daughter. People, she’s 97. But yeah, I guess that’s a complement to her for looking so young.

sweet memories of your grandma – especially the comment about “Beej’s grandma can smoke your grandma any day.”!

..and the one "I’d just get offended when people thought I was her daughter. People, she’s 97. But yeah, I guess that’s a complement to her for looking so young." when my grandma (one who raised my mom, my blood grandma is still alive) was alive, she was in her eighties and looked really young! thanks for writing this part, it galvanized my memory of my grandma! so many sweet memories, and I love (i think she is the only one I love unconditionally before i had my boys)!

it is so precious you have so many memories about your grandma! so precious, such a gift to have in our hearts and mind! I smile whenever I think of her! Do you?
